“The PEPFAR Country/Regional Operational Plan 2022 Guidance (COP/ROP 2022) is now available and will guide a momentous and pivotal twentieth year of PEPFAR implementation in Fiscal Year (FY) 2023.”

“As PEPFAR teams have worked with country governments and other stakeholders to scale HIV services, the program now supports nearly 19 million people living with HIV on sustained life-saving, antiretroviral treatment, and 94 percent of those tested are virally suppressed. Globally, over 20 PEPFAR-supported countries are at, or approaching, the UNAIDS targets that represent conditions of epidemic control of HIV, where the number of new HIV cases falls below the declining number of deaths among people living with HIV. This great accomplishment has been made possible by the generosity and commitment of the people of the United States, Congress, as well as the passion, dedication, and partnership of many organizations and individuals around the world.”

“PEPFAR’s unprecedented achievement has progressed in spite of the devastating impact of COVID-19 around the world. PEPFAR country teams, partners, and supported health systems have substantially helped country governments respond to this new pandemic, while adapting PEPFAR interventions in important ways to sustain and advance HIV prevention, care, and treatment efforts in the context of COVID-19.”

“COP/ROP 2022 guidance for program implementation in FY 2023 highlights themes proposed for the PEPFAR Strategy for 2021-2025, which is under development, moving PEPFAR countries toward sustained epidemic control of HIV by supporting equitable health services and solutions, building enduring national health systems and capabilities, and establishing lasting collaborations.”
